lyrics

In a dream of present time I've seen my garden overgrown

Monarda wild flourishing, deliberate rows of stones

Mark the tombs of withered roots, my absence their demise.

I've seen the age appear on faces

I've known only five years past,

Found the lapses growing longer in the beating of our hearts

Slowing to cicada’s calls that haunt the early dark

The weathered grey foundations

The graves in quiet hollows

Wayward aphid, tender leaves:

To err and love, an errant love

I will linger longer in the clearing in the woods

In the dim remembrance of every shallow grave I've dug.

The wood will rot/rejoice again

Shrouded by the veil of spring I hear:

Do not return until the seeds you've sown

Have found their own way through the earth
